Edo-Komon – Koushi Pattern in tsumugi silk.

In the Edo period, it was common to have room dividers in a lattice pattern. Thin wood or bamboo was set horizontally and vertically to create this pattern. It is said that Koushi is based on these patterns. Koushi with thicker lines represents power; Koushi with thinner lines stands for elegance.

Tsumugi silk is highly prized for the intensity and quality of making it. More on the technique in our blog.

Squares are approximately 12″ x 12″ [30cm]

Pocket square edges are quality hand rolled and sewn.

100% vintage Japanese fine silk, dry clean only.
